Little Chalet Motel is ideally situated for exploring Brandon’s scenic surroundings. Just about 13 km (less than a 20-minute drive) west lies Grand Valley Provincial Park, nestled in the Assiniboine River Valley—a peaceful spot perfect for a brief nature retreat. For hiking enthusiasts, the Assiniboine Riverbank Trail starts right in Brandon and stretches 17 km along the river—great for walking, biking, or jogging while taking in river views and parks. A short 10 km (roughly 15-minute drive) south, you’ll find the Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area, a beloved local gem with forested trails, wildlife, and rolling hills ideal for nature walks and birdwatching year-round.
Looking for a larger wilderness getaway? Riding Mountain National Park is within easy reach. The park spans nearly 3,000 km² of forest and lakes and is approximately 95 km (around 1 hour north) via Highway 10—an excellent day-trip destination for hiking, wildlife viewing, and lakeside relaxation
